It's called graciousness and GRATITUDE. Since you stubbornly REFUSE

I agree this group has long been dead even with the posts you and Tom

think you'll agree have be largely worthless.
I did indeed note your offer but sadly I feel it has come far too
late. Laudable though the aim may be this is 1 post amongst 1000
abusive and pointless missives. No one here I suspect will take you at
you word anymore in that you could not react to the first post in
that thread that you would consider to be a flame.
There are always two responses to what you and Tom call flames. Ignore
them or react. I get the impression reading the posts on this group
that either singly or together you have both decided to react to every
one. That is not a strategy for "turning the group round" in my view.
After that any one who happened to be conversing with you sensibly
would probably give up as you enjoyed yourself slinging abuse. So be
it.
That is your choice but it is then irrational to then complain about
the predictable outcome.
